Pakistan Sets New Fish Exports Record of $0.57 Billion

Pakistan has achieved a remarkable milestone by exporting fish and fisheries products worth nearly $570 million in the Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26), marking a new record, as reported by the Marine Fisheries Department. The department highlighted the positive impact of Pakistani seafood products entering European Union (EU) markets, which has bolstered international trust in the nation's fisheries offerings.

The department also outlined potential for growth, suggesting that Pakistan could reach exports of up to $3 billion by shifting from raw material exports to value-added products. They emphasized the importance of processing and adding value to enhance utilization of the country's seafood resources and boost export revenues. It's noteworthy that the European Union had previously imposed a full ban on Pakistani fisheries imports in 2007; however, this was lifted in 2013 when four companies were granted limited access to the European market.

The department expressed satisfaction that after a prolonged period, Pakistani fisheries products are now regaining the confidence of both European brands and consumers.
