Nolan Arenado’s 2-run homer lifts the Diamondbacks past the Astros 3-2

Houston (AP) — Nolan Arenado's two-run homer propelled the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 3-2 victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday. The first annual payment for the Diamondbacks' subscription, billed at $205.00 plus GST for one year, includes a 10% discount off the regular annual price of $259.35. The payment can be canceled at any time.

The Diamondbacks claimed two out of three games this weekend, securing their first series win in Houston since 2012. Yordan Alvarez gave the Astros an early lead with a solo shot to right field in the first inning, marking his 38th homer of the season, tied for the most in the American League.

Eduardo Rodríguez (15-5) allowed just two singles after Arenado's homer, striking out six in six innings to aid Arizona's lead, improving their road record to 8-0. Kevin Ginkel sealed the game with a perfect ninth inning, striking out the side for his third save.

Peter Lambert (8-8) surrendered seven hits and three runs over seven innings in the loss, while Jose Altuve's two-run double and Christian Walker's single helped the Astros claw back to 1-1 in the eighth inning. Jonathan Loáisiga struck out Daulton Varsho before Taylor Trammell grounded out to end the inning.

Arlene B. Geraldo suffered an injury in the third inning when Ketel Marte's 93-mph line drive struck him in the left side of his helmet as he ran to second base. Geraldo was removed from the game after receiving medical attention for a head contusion. The Diamondbacks have yet to announce their starting pitcher for the first of three games at Kansas City on Monday, while the Astros will be off on Monday before resuming a three-game series at Philadelphia on Tuesday night.
