Nepal rescuers search hydropower tunnels for survivors

Kathmandu: The UAE Search and Rescue Team has launched its field operations in the Rasuwa region of Nepal following devastating floods. This initiative is part of the UAE's humanitarian efforts to assist the Nepalese authorities in search and rescue operations and to aid in the aftermath of the disaster. The team is collaborating closely with Nepalese authorities, deploying its advanced search and rescue tools to locate missing persons and assess the damage in affected areas.

The UAE team employs state-of-the-art equipment, including drones for aerial photography and surveying, to create three-dimensional maps of the disaster zones. Hamoud Al Afari, Director of UAE Relief Operations, highlighted the team's commitment to supporting those affected in Nepal while working alongside Nepalese authorities. He emphasized that the UAE team is strategically directing its resources to the areas that require the most urgent assistance, utilizing advanced technologies to expedite search operations and locate missing individuals.

Since commencing ground operations, the UAE Search and Rescue Team has played a critical role in surmounting logistical challenges and delivering consistent relief support across various disaster-affected locations. Their efforts persist despite the difficulties of accessing areas where infrastructure and essential resources have been severely damaged by floods and landslides.

This humanitarian mission is ongoing, complemented by the UAE's continuous provision of relief assistance as part of a comprehensive response to the crisis.
