Ndindi Nyoro: I will send Ruto home if I get the opposition presidential ticket

Wahome Thuku, a political commentator, has urged former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to make it clear to voters in Kiharu if Ndindi Nyoro should be on the 2027 presidential ballot. On September 6, 2026, Thuku argued on Facebook that Nyoro's potential candidacy could split presidential votes if he chooses to run. "Gachagua will not be on the ballot," Thuku noted, suggesting that Gachagua's supporters will ultimately decide who to support among the presidential candidates.

Thuku called on Gachagua to allow Nyoro the freedom to decide on his own presidential bid while also leaving Kiharu voters to choose whether to support him. "Once he has instructed Molima voters not to mark Ndindi Nyoro on the ballot, he should leave Nyoro alone to decide whether to vie or not and also leave Molima voters to decide whether to vote for him or not. It's their votes after all. Kura Ni zao. Ama?" Thuku questioned.

The remarks come as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 General Election, with several leaders vying for influence, particularly in the Mt Kenya region. Thuku's comments shed light on the potential political challenge of leaders trying to rally Mt Kenya's votes behind a single candidate. "There is no other way that Ndindi Nyoro could SPLIT the presidential votes except by being on the ballot paper himself. Gachagua will not be on the ballot, so the question of asking voters to consider him will not even be on the table," Thuku emphasized.

If multiple candidates from the region participate in the race, their supporters might become divided among different political affiliations.
