Marina Ibrahim dilantik pegawai khas Orang Asli Johor

Former Johor state MP Marina Ibrahim has announced her resignation from politics and will return to community work before the upcoming PRN Johor election. Johor Chief Minister Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced her appointment as a special officer for Orang Asli under the Sultan Ibrahim Foundation during the National Orang Asli Sports Carnival in Educity, Iskandar Puteri.

She will serve as a special representative for Sultan Johor to interact and understand the needs of the Orang Asli community in the state. Israk Abdullah, Exco for Agriculture, Basic Crops and Rural Development, will also assist in safeguarding the welfare of the Orang Asli community. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi believes that Marina can effectively fulfill her role by visiting Orang Asli villages to understand the issues and challenges faced by the community.

The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development stated that this approach is crucial to ensure that Orang Asli issues are recognized and receive the appropriate attention. Marina, who served as Skudai MP for one term, announced her decision to relinquish the seat and withdraw from politics before the PRN Johor election. She said she chose to work directly with those in need, continuing her community work that she has always cherished before joining politics.

DAP Johor secretary Teo Nie Ching later revealed that the party plans to transfer Marina to contest the Tiram seat. Marina won the Skudai seat during the 2022 PRN Johor election, defeating Lim Soon Hai from Barisan Nasional and Khoo Keng Ek from Perikatan Nasional.
