Malaysians stranded in Jakarta as Anak Krakatau eruption grounds flights

KUALA LUMPUR: The eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau in Indonesia has caused flight disruptions, particularly at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten. Malaysians stranded in Jakarta as their return flights were affected include Threads user Spritzerphilips, who shared her distress online. She expressed her inability to return home and appealed to the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta for assistance, only to be told there was nothing they could do.

Spritzerphilips eventually managed to secure a new flight and a hotel, but fears her Tuesday's flight might be canceled again. Alternative travel suggestions on social media include land travel to Yogyakarta or Surabaya to reach Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Muhamad Norshahrizal Norizan, a Facebook user, and his family had been stranded in Jakarta for two days due to repeated flight cancellations, praying for a smooth resolution.

Another Facebook user, Musfyrah Mansor, was stranded after her morning flight was canceled, learning that the airline would reschedule flights once normal operations resumed.
