Okamoto, who delivered four hits and contributed with two RBIs, sealed the win with a crucial single in the seventh inning. This triumph places the Blue Jays on even footing with Cleveland for the final American League wild card spot.

The team's resurgence is evident, as they've secured seven wins in their last eight games and have now crossed the .500 mark for the first time since April 3. The Toronto squad, once trailing 10 games on July 28, is now in a tight race for the league's third wild card position, sharing the title with the Cleveland Guardians. Kazamoto's exceptional play, including a double in the third inning and a standout RBI single, was instrumental in Toronto's comeback.

Nathan Lukes also contributed with three hits, including an RBI single in the first inning. Closer Louis Varland added to the Blue Jays' victory by recording his 33rd save. Currently, the Blue Jays and Guardians boast a 72-71 record, leading the Texas Rangers by two games, the Baltimore Orioles by three, and the Minnesota Twins by 3.5.
