Police have arrested two suspects in Karachi's Defence Housing Authority (DHA) for allegedly abducting a young man, according to South Deputy Inspector General Syed Asad Raza. The incident occurred on the night of August 29, 2022. The arrestees are Ibrahim Fahad and Waqar, while a third suspect, Ibrahim Malik, fled to Lahore, and a fourth suspect, Irtiza, is at large.
The alleged assault happened after a dispute between the complainant, Syed Ali Jafri, and Fahad over a personal matter. According to Jafri's First Information Report (FIR), the trio went to an e-gaming facility in Bukhari Commercial and then to a cafe. Upon leaving, they were approached by a vehicle containing Fahad and three unknown individuals.
Fahad struck Jafri on the neck with a baseball bat, and his hair was pulled, causing some to fall out. The complainant was then taken into the vehicle and threatened with similar actions against his family if he did not comply. He was shown pictures of his family and given 24 hours to pay Rs30,000 or face further consequences. The suspects have been accused of kidnapping Jafri with intent to secretly and wrongfully confine him, as well as criminal intimidation.
