Israeli army says striking southern Lebanon, orders evacuation

In southern Lebanon, Israeli military forces launched strikes on Sunday following a Hezbollah drone attack on its soldiers, prompting the evacuation of residents in the town of Arab Salim. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the drones launched by Hezbollah from the Security Zone were a clear violation. Despite no reported injuries among Israeli soldiers, the IDF initiated retaliatory airstrikes in the region.

Additionally, the Israeli military issued a warning to residents of Arab Salim, instructing them to evacuate due to proximity to Hezbollah's facility. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, fueled by Iran's backing of Hezbollah, escalated in March when the latter attacked Israel. Israel responded with airstrikes and a ground invasion, resulting in over 4,300 fatalities, according to Lebanon.

However, violence has somewhat subsided since a US-Iran memorandum of understanding and a framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon were established in June and later that month. Israeli forces maintain a self-declared security zone approximately 10km deep within Lebanon along the border.
