Israeli army says striking southern Lebanon, orders evacuation

The Israeli military announced on Sunday that it was conducting strikes in southern Lebanon following Hezbollah's launch of drones towards its soldiers in the Security Zone. Lebanese authorities reported that the attacks have resulted in over 4,300 casualties since March after Iran-backed Hezbollah initiated the conflict by targeting Israel.

In response, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) declared that they were striking in southern Lebanon, warning residents of the town of Arab Salim to evacuate due to their proximity to a Hezbollah facility. The IDF emphasized that Hezbollah's actions constituted a clear violation and that no Israeli soldiers had been injured in the incident.

Violence has significantly decreased since the June US-Iran memorandum of understanding and the subsequent framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon. Israeli forces maintain a self-declared security zone approximately 10km deep inside Lebanon, bordering the country.
