Iran threatens South Korean assets if Seoul joins Hormuz mission

Iranian academic Mohammad Marandi has issued a warning to South Korea, stating that if the nation decides to join the US-led mission against Iran, Tehran may retaliate against its economic and military interests across the Persian Gulf. In an interview on Al Mayadeen’s The Grand Standoff, Marandi asserted that South Korea's involvement in the conflict would be perceived by Iran as an act of hostility, prompting the Islamic Republic to seek to "destroy whatever assets South Korea has in this region."

These targets are not confined to military installations alone; they could also encompass South Korean assets in neighboring countries such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. Marandi concluded by expressing concern over the vulnerability of South Korea to potential Iranian retaliation, emphasizing that Iran possesses the capacity to inflict significant damage on its adversaries.
