Hana Financial supports low-cost egg supply ahead of Chuseok

Hana Financial Group has joined forces with small business organizations to provide more affordable eggs to supermarkets, aiming to alleviate food cost concerns before the Chuseok holiday, according to a statement on Sunday. The financial corporation signed a deal on Friday with the Small Enterprise and Marketing Service and the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise to back the offering of eggs at reduced prices.

The project, called the Good Egg Project, sees Hana Financial partnering with 20 poultry farms and supplying around 120,000 trays of eggs to approximately 4,000 supermarkets across the nation. Each set of two trays, or 60 eggs, will be sold for 9,990 won ($7) at selected stores, beginning Friday. Hana Financial will fund the project and cover expenses such as cleaning, inspecting, sorting, and transportation to help trim distribution costs and maintain low retail prices.

The Small Enterprise and Marketing Service will set guidelines for pricing labels and manage the project, while the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise will assist in securing distribution.
