GOP conference chair says Miller is "our nominee right now" despite allegations

House Republican Conference Chair Lisa McClain has declared Max Miller to be their nominee for reelection despite allegations of abuse against him. McClain, who expressed hope the allegations were untrue, stated that she would support any candidate with an "R" behind their name. She emphasized that Miller is their nominee "right now" and that they focus on winning back the House.

Miller has been a vocal advocate for his constituents, focusing on issues like the economy, crime rates, border security, and rooting out waste and fraud. Despite numerous Republican lawmakers calling for Miller to drop out, GOP leadership remains behind him. Miller has denied the allegations, which emerged from a July 30 restraining order request by his ex-wife, Emily Moreno.

Moreno alleged Miller physically and verbally abused her and their daughter, including throwing boiling water, pointing a gun, and causing a fracture. Miller has maintained his innocence and released documents to defend himself, though some of the materials included explicit images of his daughter. Moreno has expressed fear for her daughter's safety, with Miller facing accusations from former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham and a high school acquaintance.
