Farmer struck dead by lightning in Uppada

A 55-year-old farmer lost his life on Sunday after being struck by lightning while inspecting his paddy field in Paatha Isukapalli village, located in U. Kothapalli mandal of Kakinada district. Nooka Raju, the deceased farmer, was engaged in his routine field inspection when the deadly lightning strike occurred. The Uppada Kothapalli police promptly recovered the body from the field and sent it to Kakinada Government General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The deputy chief minister, K. Pawan Kalyan, expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic incident. He inquired about the circumstances surrounding Nooka Raju's death and directed the Kakinada district officials to initiate an ex gratia payment to the farmer's family members. Kalyan made the inquiry and contacted the farmer's family via telephone.
