Dombivli Dahi Handi 2026: NavYug Govinda Pathak Wins Title After Lottery Selection At Grand BJP Event

In the grand finale of Dombivli’s Dahi Handi celebration, NavYug Govinda Pathak emerged victorious after being chosen through a lottery during the BJP Kalyan District unit's event held at Baji Prabhu Chowk. This annual tradition, which has been held for 19 years, blended the age-old festivities with messages of social responsibility, unity, and nation-building.

The competition featured three Govinda groups - Ashtavinayak Govinda Pathak, NavYug Govinda Pathak, and NavSai Govinda Pathak. After a lottery selection, NavYug Govinda Pathak stood as the champion, breaking the ceremonial handi to claim the title. The event saw participation from Govinda Pathaks not only from Dombivli but also from cities like Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, and Badlapur.

The festivities also included performances by popular reality show performers who have made their mark in national and international arenas. Mathura-based Crazy Hoppers, who were twice finalists on India’s Got Talent, and Kolkata-based Beat Breakers showcased their energetic performances and acrobatic acts, enchanting the audience.

The event, organised by the BJP Kalyan District unit, was attended by BJP state president Ravindra Chavan. He praised the continuous participation of citizens in the celebration and emphasized the importance of unity and social responsibility in the country's progress. The celebration concluded late at night with the winning team being honoured for their accomplishment.
