Caught On Camera: DCP Nameplate Car Zigzags Through Indore, Allegedly Hits Child & Elderly Man

In the Pardeshipura area of Indore, a car adorned with a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) nameplate was reported to have been driving erratically and colliding with two individuals. The vehicle, bearing the registration number MP 03 A 8674, allegedly struck a child riding a bicycle and an elderly man on a scooter. Both victims reportedly sustained minor injuries.

The car was reportedly assigned to the city's Deputy Commissioner of Police for Zone 4. Two policemen were present inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. The car was said to have been coming from the Clerk Colony area when it first collided with the child, causing him to fall onto the road. The driver was allegedly continued without halting.

A nearby motorcyclist recorded the event on video. The car subsequently proceeded towards Bhandari Bridge, dangerously close to other vehicles. Passersby attempted to halt the driver and request him to drive cautiously, but retreated after observing the DCP nameplate. At Bhandari Bridge, the car was again reported to have continued its reckless behavior, colliding with a scooter, which led to the elderly rider losing balance and falling onto the footpath with minor injuries.

Allegations have surfaced suggesting the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol, although this has not been verified. Following the video's dissemination on social media, senior officers assigned the investigation to RI Deepak Patil, who informed that both the driver and the accompanying individual were called to provide their statements.

Patil stated that attempts were made to contact the victim to ensure appropriate action could be taken against the responsible party. It was reported that the car had been allocated to DCP Sunil Mehta and was en route to the DRP Line after dropping him off at his residence following his voluntary retirement on September 1.
