Awujale: Fusengbuwa ruling house alleges sabotage, insists it remains united, resolute

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House has accused adversaries of attempting to prevent the family from selecting the next Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, stating that the house remains united and resolute. Chairman and Head Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi disclosed this during a recent assembly of princes and princesses at Ile Nla, Agunsebi, Ijebu-Ode. The meeting aimed to inform members about the stalled process and the legal actions taken.

Owoyemi emphasized the importance of the meeting, stating that the large attendance demonstrated unity and support for the family's decision. He also noted that the enemies are those who wish to disrupt the process so they can claim the ruling house cannot produce the next Awujale. The ruling house filed a court action against Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, nine Ijebu-Ode kingmakers, and five others, seeking an order to compel the defendants to conclude the ongoing selection process.

Members were briefed on the rationale behind the legal action during the co-chaired meeting by Owoyemi, his Deputy Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba, and Prof Fassy Yusuf, which brought together delegates from Lagos and various locations. Despite the tension, Owoyemi highlighted the substantial turnout as evidence of the house's unity. He further stated that the members endorsed the leadership's decisions and reaffirmed their confidence in the family's handling of the succession battle.

The ruling house urged its members to maintain calm and lawful behavior while pursuing their goal of reclaiming their rightful succession through the court.
