At anti‑bullying event, Sabah Education Dept urges victims to stand firm, report abuse and seek help

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 6 — The State Education Department in Sabah is urging students who experience bullying to immediately report the incidents to their teachers, parents, and authorities. Deputy Director (Student Development Sector) Muddin Beting emphasized that victims must remain steadfast in the pursuit of truth and justice to prevent others from facing similar situations.

He stressed the importance of seeking help urgently to ensure justice is served. Muddin also reiterated that schools are meant to be a place where human capital is developed, and students should not attend with concerns about their safety due to potential abuse and bullying. He commended the National Consumer Action Council (MTPN) Sabah for organizing the 'Kesedaran Aerobeat Bully 2026' anti-bullying program, expressing hope that it would yield positive outcomes throughout the state.

The department assured its continued support for MTPN Sabah in running similar initiatives in the future. MTPN Sabah Youth chairman Calvin Choo stressed the right of all students to feel secure at all times, emphasizing the need for bravery to come forward and assist friends in reporting negative incidents. He hoped the participants would share this message within their respective schools.

Other attendees included MTPN Sabah Chairman and National MTPN Vice-President Kevin Lo, and the council's legal advisor Chin Tek Ming.
