Arokodare nets fifth Ajax goal in PSV defeat

Tolu Arokodare extended his scoring run to four matches in a row for Ajax, but it was not enough to prevent a 3-1 defeat to PSV in the Eredivisie at the Johan Cruijff Arena on Saturday. PSV took an early lead inside four minutes, with Ricardo Pepi scoring from a cross by Ruben van Bommel. Arokodare, on loan from Wolves, equalized in the 23rd minute with a low shot that hit the post.

PSV regained the lead in the first half's final moments when Lutsharel Geertruida volleyed home a corner. Ajax's Esmir Bajraktarevic scored the winning goal in stoppage time of the second half. The loss leaves Ajax winless in five Eredivisie home games and six points behind PSV, though they still have a game in hand. Arokodare's recent form could bolster his chances of a recall to the Nigeria national team, which left him out of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations squad.
