Arizona State routs Morgan State 70-7 as new QB Boley tosses 6 TD passes

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Cutter Boley, Arizona State's new quarterback, orchestrated a dominant performance in his season debut, connecting with six receivers for six touchdowns. The Sun Devils' defense allowed Morgan State only 188 yards in their season opener, winning 70-7. Cutter Boley completed 21 of 27 passes for 387 yards and was the play-action weapon for most of the offense.

Reed Harris led the receiving corps with six catches for 137 yards, while Grayson Rigdon added 102 yards on eight receptions. Kyson Brown rushed for 46 yards on Arizona State's second play of the game before a 10-yard touchdown pass from Boley to Miller made it 21-7 in the second quarter. The Sun Devils' defense forced a fumble from Morgan State's Jordan Barnett, who did manage to score on a 2-yard run.

Morgan State's first-half touchdown came on a 39-yard run by Marquez Spells, but Arizona State's defense stifled the Bears' offense throughout the contest. Following the game, Boley was replaced by Sam Leavitt, who transferred to LSU after two seasons at Arizona State.
