5 dead, 5 hurt after Amazon cargo plane overshoots Miami runway

Five people were killed and five others were injured after an Amazon cargo plane overshot the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday, crashed into vehicles, and caught fire, according to officials. Miami-Dade County fire chief Ray Jadallah reported that in addition to the five fatalities, three individuals were transported to trauma centers in critical condition, and two more were treated at a local hospital.

The plane, which operated as Prime Air Flight 7598, struck several vehicles, leaving some victims trapped. An extensive search and rescue operation, involving multiple fire apparatuses from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, was necessary to extricate the pilot and co-pilot from the burning aircraft, with one of them potentially still alive.

The exact cause of the incident will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
