Yemeni leader warns Houthis: 'Your miscalculations will lead to total collapse'

Yemen's top presidential council, Rashad Al-Alimi, has warned the Houthis that their strategic blunders will result in their complete downfall. In recent military triumphs on the Taiz and Hodeidah fronts, Al-Alimi commended the armed forces and their commanders for their advances in reclaiming areas under Houthi control. The council chief called out the National Resistance Brigades, Giants Brigades, and Tihama Brigades for their role in fully liberating the Hays district in Hodeidah province.

Al-Alimi praised the air force for its support of ground troops during operations and highlighted their role in countering threats. He cautioned the Houthis that their actions would bear the full responsibility for what he deemed an "adventure," adding that Taiz will not be a refuge for the group's projects and agendas. Al-Alimi emphasized that the armed forces, having repelled attacks and seized the initiative, are prepared to continue reclaiming territory and fulfilling their duty to protect citizens and the nation's interests.

The council chairman instructed military units to adhere to international humanitarian law and rules of engagement, protect civilians and private/public property, facilitate aid delivery and relief for displaced people, and ensure the humane treatment of detainees. He condemned the Houthis for targeting residential areas, public roads, and civilian infrastructure, resulting in civilian casualties, abductions, and the displacement of hundreds of families.

Al-Alimi stressed that these violations will not be overlooked and that military operations must always prioritize civilian safety.

Al-Alimi urged political and social forces, as well as media and intellectual platforms, to unite behind the national front and bolster confidence in the armed forces and military formations, urging against doubt, betrayal, or disputes. He affirmed that restoring state institutions is an irreversible national goal, regardless of the sacrifices required.

He also implored tribesmen and those misled in Houthi-controlled areas not to send their sons to fight and encouraged them to return and not sacrifice their lives in a battle that does not benefit Yemenis. Concluding his remarks, Al-Alimi honored the fallen members of the armed forces and military formations, directing authorities to provide care for the wounded, support the families of the deceased, and guarantee their rights and entitlements.
