Who is Melissa Payne? Florida woman who shot and killed army vet won't face charges; watch video of encounter

Melissa Payne, a Florida woman, fatally shot army veteran Bart DiGuglielmo in June without facing charges. The decision was made by prosecutors from the Broward County state attorney's office, due to Florida's 'stand your ground' law. This allows individuals to use lethal force if they fear imminent danger to their life or serious bodily harm.

Payne was accompanied by her niece and her infant daughter at the time of the incident. The video of the encounter resurfaced after the decision. Payne claimed self-defense, stating that DiGuglielmo kept following her and threatening her, despite her warnings to back off. DiGuglielmo, however, was alone at the time. Payne's husband confirmed she called the police after the incident.
