Week 3 Roundup: Jensen Beach tops South Fork, extends rivalry streak to 9

Jensen Beach head coach Tim Caffey celebrated his team's 23-3 victory over South Fork on Friday, Sept. 4, extending the rivalry streak to nine straight wins. Former South Fork standout Corey McIntyre joined Caffey as a member of the Falcons coaching staff. Caffey praised his players for their hard work and dedication, stating, "The kids came to play. They listened. We worked on a lot of different things, and they’re starting to get it. They played hard."

Senior linebacker Alex Thornton sealed the win with a 77-yard touchdown return on the final play of the game. Junior defensive end Jayden Ruzicka set up the touchdown, tipping a screen pass for Marcus Rogers to dive into the end zone. Junior quarterback Dre Lott added a 5-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, pushing Jensen Beach's lead to 21-3.

The Falcons maintained their lead through the third quarter with a 37-yard field goal by Damien Heissenberg. South Fork scored a 33-yard field goal with 14 minutes left in the fourth quarter, but Jensen Beach continued to dominate. The Bulldogs' final touchdown attempt was negated by a holding penalty, and an interception in the end zone sealed the victory for Jensen Beach. Head coach Eric Kresser acknowledged that the game was much closer than the score indicated.
