Clear Fork beats Lexington, starts 3-0 for first time since 2018

The Clear Fork Colts have achieved an impressive feat, having won all three nonconference games this season for the first time since 2018. Coach Aaron Brokaw emphasized that the team's primary objective is to secure victories week by week. On Friday, September 4, the Colts faced off against their rivals, Lexington, at the Colt Corral and emerged victorious with a 17-7 score.

The defense's stellar performance was the cornerstone of the Colts' triumph. They managed to prevent any Lexington touchdowns, forcing a turnover on downs when Lexington drew near their 22-yard line. Quarterback Marcus Hoeflich, backed by a powerful running game spearheaded by Trey Sellers (who reached the 100-yard mark), and Nash Evans, contributed significantly to the win.

Evans was a versatile player, contributing with three carries for six yards, three receptions for 55 yards and a score, and impressive performances on defense and special teams.

Coach Brokaw highlighted Nash Evans' adaptability, praising his ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game. Despite the grueling demands of the game, Evans expressed his enjoyment of the diverse roles, admitting to moving around more as a wide receiver. Lexington's offensive spark came from sophomore quarterback Jayden Perkins, who made his first varsity start, completing 8-of-14 passes for 58 yards and also contributing with 63 rushing yards.

Lexington managed to score once in the game when Cam Glennon returned an 85-yard kick for the only touchdown. He also added 24 receiving and 20 rushing yards. Lexington coach Jacob Owens was impressed by Glennon's performance, noting the game changer that he has been in three consecutive games. The clear Fork Colts will look to build on their momentum with their upcoming match against Ontario, their first MOAC opponent, next week. Both Clear Fork and Lexington have now started their respective campaigns undefeated.
