Visually impaired singer Suneel Lodhi calls Hanuman Ansh a ‘miracle’: ‘No formal training’

Visually impaired Bundelkhandi folk singer Suneel Lodhi has sung the song "Maine Tere Hi Bharose" for the Hindi film Hanuman Ansh, which has become a surprise hit at the box office. In a recent interview on Doordarshan, Lodhi, who has been visually impaired since childhood, revealed that he never received formal training in music.

He credited the blessings of Lata Mangeshkar for his passion, stating, "I never received any formal training and I don’t have a coach. It was through the grace of revered Lata ji that I kept listening to her songs. I would then sing at devotional gatherings in the village." Lodhi later gained recognition through social media, where he posted Bundeli folk songs and bhajans.

His song "More Sankat Ke Kataiya" became a major online hit, viewed over 30 million times. This success led to his inclusion in Hanuman Ansh, a film based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi. Lodhi expressed gratitude, saying, "Hanuman ji has blessed me." He believes the film's success mirrors that of "More Sankat Ke Kataiya," both taking time to find their audience but eventually receiving significant love from viewers.
