Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Govt Strengthens Teacher Training System, Assigns Senior Lecturers Principal Charge In 17 DIETs

Lucknow, September 5, 2026: The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership, is actively enhancing the teacher training system and elevating the quality of education in schools across the state. To facilitate this, Special Secretary of the Basic Education Department, Yatindra Kumar, has instructed the Director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Uttar Pradesh, to take necessary steps to assign senior lecturers as Principal in 17 District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) based on seniority.

This move is aimed at ensuring the smooth functioning of DIETs and bolstering their role in teacher training, capacity building, academic support, and promoting innovations in school education.

Three senior lecturers have also been granted additional charge of the Principal position in the DIETs of Etah, Etawah, and Mau districts. This decision reflects the government's commitment to providing robust leadership to these crucial institutions. The Director of SCERT has been directed to ensure prompt assignment of these officers and complete all required follow-up actions.

The appointed senior lecturers include Rajesh Kumar Singh from Bahraich, Ram Pratap Singh from Shrawasti, Vinod Kumar from Hamirpur, and several others from various districts, underscoring the statewide impact of this initiative.
