APM: Tinubu lacks capacity to tackle insecurity

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has criticized the current Nigerian administration for denying the reality of increasing insecurity across the nation. APM firmly rejects the assertion that security has improved under President Tinubu, despite global rankings placing Nigeria as the world's 4th most insecure country in 2026, a two-step increase from 2025's 6th place according to the Global Terrorism Index (GTI).

APM's National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, expressed deep disappointment over a Minister of Defence's claim on national television that security has improved. This comes at a time when numerous Nigerians are being killed, kidnapped, displaced, and terrorized. APM argues that the Tinubu administration's insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians is evident in the continued violence and human rights abuses.

APM insists that the Minister's comments highlight the administration's inability to comprehend the suffering of millions of Nigerian families whose lives have been irreparably damaged by the ongoing insecurity. They cite the recent abduction of over 600 people, mostly women, children, and the elderly, in Niger State as evidence of the administration's failure to address the crisis.

The opposition party emphasizes that the current administration's denial of the security situation either indicates a lack of awareness or a deliberate attempt to mislead the public. APM further criticizes the government for not taking immediate action, such as challenging the President and other officials to travel unarmed, to prove the effectiveness of their security measures.

APM calls on Nigerians to remain hopeful and exercise their electoral rights to vote for their presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde. He is presented as having a viable plan to tackle the nation's security and other pressing issues, which come to an end with the Tinubu-led administration on May 29, 2027.
