Ukraine-Krieg: Witkoff und Kushner zu Gesprächen in Moskau angekommen

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, US special envoys for the war in Ukraine, would visit Moscow on Saturday and Kiew on Sunday. The envoys arrived at Moscow airport on Saturday afternoon, followed by a convoy, including Russian Direct Investment Fund executive Kirill Dmitriev. Ukrainian media reported the arrival of the US envoy, citing Interfax and Tass.

Zelensky stated that he had planned a visit to Moscow followed by a meeting with Witkoff and Kushner in Kiew. The US and Ukraine are considering a proposal to end the war, though details have not been disclosed. US President Donald Trump confirmed the itinerary, stating that the envoys were sent to explore possible outcomes. The journey is expected to last until the beginning of the next week, pending security guarantees from Ukraine.

Zelensky promised not to conduct regular Ukrainian air strikes during the envoy's stay, and Russia must reciprocate by halting its missile strikes on Kyiv. Previously, there were unconfirmed reports that Witkoff and Kushner planned to travel to Moscow on Saturday and Kiew on Sunday. The "New York Times" reported that the US envoys were expected to first meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and then Zelensky.

Russian officials insisted that Ukraine suspend its drone attacks on Moscow and Russia's energy infrastructure while the envoys are in the country. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he would not announce the arrival of Witkoff and Kushner but would inform about it if the meetings took place.
