Tyler Perry pays $18K lien for 81-year-old woman after Allstate denied her home insurance claim

In February, an 81-year-old Illinois resident named Brenda Daurham was devastated when a pipe burst under her sink, causing extensive water damage to her 40-year-old home. Despite having homeowner's insurance, Allstate refused to cover the repairs, even after Daurham hired a restoration company to fix the damage. The restoration company subsequently placed a $18,000 mechanic's lien on Daurham's house, denying that the water damage was sudden and accidental.

Filmmaker and billionaire Tyler Perry stepped in to help, offering to pay the lien and potentially cover the necessary repairs to make her home livable again.
