Two Russian jet-powered drones flew toward Kyiv from Donetsk Oblast, but only one arrived – Flash

Ukrainian presidential technology adviser Flash revealed on September 4 that a jet-powered Shahed drone was responsible for the attack on the Security Service of Ukraine building in central Kyiv. He clarified that reports suggesting the strike was staged with a small drone were false. Surveillance systems tracked the jet-powered drone flying towards Kyiv from Donetsk Oblast at an altitude exceeding 7 kilometers.

By analyzing the drone's flight path, Flash determined the direction of its launch. The analysis of the wreckage confirmed that the drone was a Geran-4 model, with most of its components identified by experts. During the attack on the SBU building, Flash also reported that two jet-powered drones were headed towards Kyiv simultaneously; however, only one successfully reached the capital.

On September 4, Russian forces targeted the SBU headquarters in Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the drone was aimed at the office of SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad. Ukraine's Foreign Ministry deemed the attack a significant escalation, indicating Russia's reluctance to engage in diplomacy. In response, the SBU pledged a painful retaliation against the enemy.
