Protesters seek dust-, pothole-free Hubballi

On Saturday, members of the Namma Karnataka Sene staged a protest in Hubballi, demanding the municipal corporation take immediate action to eliminate dust and potholes from the city's roads. The group distributed masks to residents and marched to the Municipal Commissioner's office, presenting a memorandum outlining their grievances. They claimed numerous major roads were littered with potholes and dust, and that recent flyover construction efforts had exacerbated traffic congestion and road conditions.

The protesters argued that a lack of coordination between departments overseeing civic works led to incomplete repairs and open excavations, further degrading the roads. They emphasized that the dust generated from these conditions adversely impacted the health of residents, pedestrians, motorists, and traders. To address their concerns, they called on the civic body to implement scientific measures to manage dust, fix damaged roads and potholes, and clear soil and debris from roadways.

Additionally, they demanded the swift completion of the flyover project in Hubballi's central area to alleviate traffic bottlenecks.

At the protest, Labour leader Mahesh Pattar, district president Basavaraj Devaramani, and taluk president Basavaraj Sali were among the participants.
