Troops rescue 23 kidnap victims, foil kidnap attempt in Zamfara

Troops from Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully rescued 23 kidnapped individuals and thwarted another abduction attempt in Zamfara State. These counter-terrorism operations took place in Anka and Bungudu Local Government Areas. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, revealed this information in a statement.

Danja reported that during a patrol near Wuya Town in Anka LGA, troops encountered a group of terrorists and managed to free the 23 victims. The rescued individuals consisted of three adult males and 20 females. Preliminary investigations indicated that the victims were abducted from Gummi LGA and held captive for approximately three weeks before their rescue.

The victims are currently receiving medical attention and necessary support before being reunited with their families. In a separate operation in Bungudu LGA, troops received intelligence about armed bandits planning to abduct residents in Dankurmi Town. In response, the troops swiftly mobilized to the area and engaged the attackers in a fierce firefight.

Bloodstains found along the terrorists' route suggested that some attackers sustained serious gunshot wounds during the confrontation. The Army has sustained a strong presence in the affected regions and is continuing operations to apprehend the fleeing terrorists while enhancing security along crucial routes and communities throughout the state.
