Tate brothers charged with further trafficking and sex crimes in Romania

Romanian prosecutors have charged social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate with additional sex crimes, alleging they made over $1.2 million by coercing a young girl into performing sexual acts on video chats. Andrew, 39, is charged with trafficking minors, money laundering, and having sex with a minor, while Tristan, 38, is accused of complicity in trafficking minors and money laundering.

The brothers, who are currently in a Miami jail fighting extradition to the UK over separate charges, deny all allegations. The charges stem from a vulnerable woman who investigators say was recruited by Tristan at age 15 and later sheltered in Luton, Bedfordshire, for sexual exploitation by Andrew. Prosecutors request the confiscation of four of the brothers' luxury cars worth £710,000, believing money was laundered through their purchase.

It remains unclear if DIICOT will seek their extradition from the US. Their lawyer, Eugen Constantin Vidineac, stated that the new charges do not determine guilt and that the indictment represents the prosecution's attempt to bring the case to court following the failure of their previous indictment.
