Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2026: Indore, Jabalpur & Bhopal Ward Win National Clean Air Honours

The National Clean Air Survey 2026 (Swachh Vayu Survekshan) has awarded three recognitions to Madhya Pradesh, with Indore and Jabalpur receiving the Clean Air Appreciation Award for their city-level efforts. Bhopal Municipal Corporation's Ward No. 60 has been honoured for innovative initiatives at the ward level. Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav will present the awards during the Clean Air Day ceremony on September 7 in New Delhi.

Indore's commendation is based on its comprehensive approach to enhancing air quality. The city has implemented dust-control measures, scientific road cleaning, expanded green belts, established systematic construction and demolition waste management systems, and conducted public awareness campaigns.

Jabalpur has also been recognized for its pollution-control measures, promotion of green initiatives, and encouragement of community participation in clean-air programs. The micro-ward-level competition under the National Clean Air Programme selected Ward No. 60 of Bhopal for its efforts in improving local air quality through cleanliness drives, increased green cover, pollution-reduction measures, and active citizen participation.

This recognition underscores how targeted interventions at the local level can contribute to broader environmental goals.

Sanket Bhondve, Urban Development and Housing Commissioner, emphasized that the achievement reflects Madhya Pradesh's commitment to a clean and developed India. He noted that urban local bodies within the state will continue striving for cleaner air, greener cities, and sustainable urban development with increased citizen involvement.
