"Something special here" - Pierre Gasly ecstatic to take maiden F1 pole in Monza

Alpine senior advisor Flavio Briatore expressed his outrage during a post-race press conference, criticizing the FIA's decision to strip Pierre Gasly of his Monaco podium finish. The Alpine team had promoted Gasly to a podium position following a controversial decision at the Monaco Grand Prix. Briatore's frustration stemmed from the fact that one of the judges involved in the case had a close relationship with McLaren, one of the teams that appealed the review.

Briatore argued that the judge's connection with McLaren was unfair and undermined the independence of the judicial process. He emphasized that the judge, Filippo Marchino, acted like a prosecutor during the hearing and had a history of favoring McLaren. Briatore stated that Alpine accepted the decision, but he was more concerned about the independence of the judges and the lack of impartiality in this particular case.

McLaren's Fred Vasseur and McLaren's Andrea Stella were present at the press conference, but Stella referred to the allegations of a connection between McLaren and the reviewing official as "insulting."
