Shahid Afridi Appointed Sports Ambassador of Sindh Police

Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has been named Sports Ambassador of the Sindh Police Sports Board in a special ceremony held at the Central Police Office. Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho bestowed on him a certificate confirming his appointment during the event. Odho presented Afridi with his shield along with the Sindh police chief, acknowledging Afridi's acceptance of the role as a privilege.

Odho expressed his gratitude for Afridi's willingness to join the Sindh Police and emphasized that his involvement would bolster the department's efforts to promote sports within the force. Promoting sports has long been a priority for the Sindh Police, Odho noted, and the support of the business community has been instrumental in organizing sporting activities.

The chief highlighted that the primary aim of these activities is to inspire young people to engage in healthy and positive pursuits, fostering discipline, teamwork, and a positive attitude while keeping them away from drugs and other detrimental habits. Afridi, speaking at the ceremony, expressed his happiness and honor at becoming the Sports Ambassador of the Sindh Police Sports Board.

The ex-Pakistani captain, who was born in Karachi, recalled that playing for the Sindh Police cricket team was his childhood aspiration. He also mentioned that the Sindh Police once fielded three cricket teams. Afridi pledged to continue offering his support to promote sports and to encourage young people to participate in wholesome sporting activities.
