Robin Morgan, a prominent child star of the 1940s and 50s who later transformed into a renowned feminist, poet, essayist, and editor, has passed away at the age of 85. Morgan was a key figure in the second-wave feminist movement, co-founding the Women’s Media Center alongside Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinem. Throughout the 1960s and 70s, she played a significant role in shaping how women perceived and lived their lives, breaking societal norms and advocating for justice.

Morgan was credited with coining the term "herstory" and popularizing the clenched fist/female symbol, which became a symbol of the liberation movement. Her famous poem Monster and Arraignment, which criticized poet Ted Hughes for Sylvia Plath's suicide, were widely quoted at feminist rallies. Morgan was arrested and jailed in 1970 for occupying the offices of the avant-garde Grove Press, an act that showcased her radical approach to activism.

Having been raised in New York without knowing her father, Morgan had a complex personal life, marrying poet Kenneth Pitchford and raising a son, Blake Morgan. Her 2001 memoir, Saturday's Child, reflected on her life's journey and her ability to maintain a sense of humor despite facing challenges. Throughout her life, Morgan continued to write, edit, and host radio shows, remaining an influential voice in the feminist movement until her death.
