Reps dissolve ad-hoc committees

The House of Representatives has officially dissolved all its ad hoc committees, requiring affected members to cease all related activities immediately. The decision was communicated in a notice signed by the Clerk of the House, Sidi Ibrahim, and shared with journalists on Saturday. The notice explained that the dissolution followed previous requests for committees to complete their assignments and submit reports within a given timeframe. Only two committees had requested and received a two-week extension, which has now expired.

All outstanding reports, working documents, and other materials from the affected committees must be submitted to the Office of the Clerk for safekeeping. The notice emphasized that ad hoc committees are temporary entities established for specific, time-bound purposes and are not meant to persist indefinitely beyond their designated mandate.

According to the Standing Orders, committees are required to submit their reports within the allotted time. Since the committees have exceeded this time, their continued existence is no longer justified.

Effective Friday, August 28th, 2026, all ad hoc committees of the House are considered dissolved, and any ongoing activities associated with them must immediately cease. Committee chairmen have been instructed to forward all remaining reports, documents, and materials to the Clerk of the House for secure storage.
