Raksha Bandhan Taunt Turns Deadly In Indore: Sister-In-Law Kills Newlywed, Dumps Body In Water Tank

In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a particularly gruesome murder case has come to light, leaving the community shocked and distressed. The story began on Raksha Bandhan, a festival that celebrates the bond between sisters and brothers, when tensions escalated between newlywed sister Vandana Patel, 22, and her sister-in-law, Parvati Bai.

According to police, the dispute originated when Vandana allegedly made a disparaging remark about Parvati's brother, who is currently incarcerated in Sagar Jail on rape charges. The situation escalated further when Vandana threatened to evict Parvati, her husband, and their children from the house.

In the ensuing heated argument, Parvati grabbed a kitchen knife and brutally attacked Vandana, inflicting two fatal wounds - one to the neck and another to the abdomen. In a shocking twist, Parvati then disposed of Vandana's body in a water tank, meticulously cleaned the bloodstains from the house to cover up her crime, and visited her husband at the hospital, who was receiving treatment elsewhere.

The bodies' discovery on Thursday evening by Rupendra Patel, Vandana's husband, who noticed his wife's phone was off, and subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Parvati Bai. CCTV footage, which was reviewed by the police, confirmed that no one else entered the house during the time frame in question, and Parvati confessed to the crime. The Tehsildars in charge of the revenue case have faced a setback, losing two increments each.
