Puspakom rancang operasi 24 jam tahun depan

The Computerized Vehicle Inspection Center (Puspakom) is set to extend its operating hours to 24 hours beginning January 2027, according to Executive Director Mahmood Razak Bahman. The initiative, which relies on feedback from a proposal testing seven days per week operations starting November, also seeks to improve working conditions by reducing hours from 12 to between eight and 10 per day with two days of rest, rather than the current one-day rest.

The 24-hour operation is targeted at launching in January contingent on public reaction to the seven-day operation and operational capacity readiness, he told Bernama after launching the GiCheck Auto Weekend 2026 at a local car dealership headquarters. NUCW and Paki Pakom staff union leaders attended to offer their feedback on the proposed work hours.

Besides, Puspakom plans to introduce a community award recognition program and expand inspection services to customer locations, including the introduction of Puspakom Towering Malaysian Awards to honor individuals making positive changes to society or the environment, despite often receiving little public attention. The new awards program is being developed in collaboration with strategic partners and media agencies before further details are announced soon.

Mahmood also mentioned the initiative will be supported by various interactive activities conveying safety messages physically and practically to diverse sections of society, such as the GiCheck Auto Weekend 2026. He added that this step is expected to enhance Puspakom's overall operational efficiency while strengthening relationships between inspection agencies and local communities.

The GiCheck Auto Weekend 2026, a frequent annual event, will showcase technical demonstrations, tire pressure checks, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology exhibits under the theme Driving Safer Roads Together, coinciding with National Month.
