Pas urges fresh mandate through Parliament dissolution

KOTA BARU: The political landscape within Malaysia's Unity Government has become increasingly tumultuous, prompting the opposition party, Pas, to call for the dissolution of Parliament. Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, the deputy president of Pas, suggested that the current volatile situation, marked by open hostility between coalition parties, necessitates a fresh mandate for the nation's citizens.

Pas deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man made these remarks following a speech at the Pas 75th anniversary celebration in Kota Baru. He explained that such candid discussions about internal party discord are usually avoided, but the current situation is dire and difficult to manage. Parties within the coalition have been openly attacking one another, which has led to a serious and uncontrolled political environment.

Tuan Ibrahim argued that the recent general election outcome did not result in a single party's victory, but rather a coalition. He emphasized that no one party was able to secure enough support to form a government independently. In light of these circumstances, he advocated for the dissolution of Parliament to grant the people a new opportunity to choose their preferred government.
