North Dakota State blanks Fordham 38-0, improves to 2-0 in first FBS season

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Nathan Hayes and DJ Scott powered North Dakota State to a dominant 38-0 victory over FCS opponent Fordham, marking their first win of the season in the new FBS format. The Bison defense was a key factor, holding Fordham to a measly 135 total yards while allowing only 10 points. Hayes connected with Chris Kiel on an 8-yard touchdown pass and Mekhi Collins on a 12-yard strike.

He also completed 18 of 22 passes for 210 yards. Hayes added two more touchdowns, one through the air and another on the ground. DJ Scott contributed 60 rushing yards, including a 3-yard and a 7-yard touchdown run. The Bison's defense sealed the game with a 37-yard pick-6 by Marion Moore, putting NDSU ahead 24-0 just one minute into the second half.

Hayes finished 18 of 22 for 373 yards on the day. Meanwhile, the Rams managed just 49 yards on offense, with their final drive ending in an interception by Gunnar Smith, who also lost a fumble. North Dakota State now stands at 2-0 in their first season at the FBS level, while Fordham remains at 0-2.
