NIA team visits Army camp amid probe into missing firearms

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) dispatched a team to the 20 Madras Regiment premises in Bollarum, Secunderabad Cantonment, on September 4, 2026, while probing the vanishing of 12 firearms and ammunition from the Army establishment. The investigative squad toured the crime scene and held discussions with local investigators.

The investigation's scope has expanded to encompass Army personnel, encompassing Agniveers, sepoys, and others who had access to the premises. Military Intelligence and several Telangana police units are lending support to the probe. The firearms were reported missing post the Kote and Battalion Magazine locks were discovered broken on August 31. The last comprehensive count of the weapons was conducted on the evening of August 30.

Police investigations have dismissed any involvement of Agniveers in the theft. The probe is being carried out within the defense boundaries, with officials emphasizing the need for confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the case and potential national security implications.
