Nepali woman rescued alive after 10 days under flood debris

NUWAKOT, Nepal - A Nepali woman named Chandrika Shrestha, 64, was rescued alive from her home buried under debris following massive flooding 10 days ago. She was found by members of the Armed Police Force as they cleared the area and was immediately airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment. Earlier, a Chinese man was rescued alive inside a tunnel of the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project in Nepal's Rasuwa district.

The floods, caused by a glacial and rock collapse on the China-Nepal border, have claimed at least 1,287 lives in Nepal and left 5,083 people missing. So far, 1,344 bodies have been recovered in Nepal, with around 5,000 people still unaccounted for. In China, 31 people have been killed and 531 are missing, bringing the combined death toll to 1,375 and over 5,500 missing.
