Mudavadi warns against weakening Ruto’s UDA in broad-based coalition

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has disclosed that the ruling coalition, led by the UDA, is developing a broad-based coalition framework and joint manifesto for President William Ruto's re-election in the 2027 General Election. A committee comprising representatives from UDA and ODM is being formed to create the framework, which will outline the coalition's objectives for the five years following the election.

Mudavadi emphasized the importance of strengthening UDA's grassroots presence to ensure Ruto's strong position within the coalition. He cautioned aspirants to expand the party's support base across the country, as their numbers would determine the coalition's negotiating power. Mudavadi also warned that ODM's ambition to regain political power necessitates UDA's efforts to retain its current influence.

He stressed the significance of securing a majority of parliamentary and county assembly seats to bolster Ruto's position. Mudavadi challenged UDA aspirants to actively participate in their own nominations and Ruto's re-election campaign, while urging them to leverage UDA's strong opinion poll mechanism to increase their visibility.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary urged Western Kenya voters to support Ruto for a second term, linking continued backing to the completion of development projects in the region. Mudavadi criticized the opposition for lacking clear ideas and policies, asserting that UDA intends to field candidates from the presidency to the county assembly level in 2027.

He emphasized that the coalition's formation will be influenced by each party's strength in the negotiating process, making voter mobilization and seat acquisition crucial for UDA's preparations.
