Moore throws for 3 TDs and No. 2 Oregon overcomes a slow start to beat Boise State 34-27

Eugene, Oregon (AP) — Quarterback Dante Moore completed 388 passing yards and three touchdown passes, leading No. 2 ranked Oregon to a 34-27 victory over determined Boise State in the season debut of both sides on Saturday.

Oregon tied the score at 27 in the fourth quarter with a 62-yard touchdown reception from Dakorien Moore, securing the Ducks' advantage with 7:51 remaining on the clock. Oregon has maintained an impressive 16-game winning streak at Autzen Stadium, while Boise State has achieved a remarkable 39-game winning streak at home against nonconference opponents, the longest such streak in the nation.

Dante Moore returned to Oregon after contributing with 3,565 passing yards and 30 touchdowns last season, as the Ducks finished with a 13-2 record. Boise State brought back quarterback Maddux Madsen, who threw for 181 yards and scored three touchdowns in the opener, following his 2,334 passing yards and 18 touchdowns the previous season. The Broncos, who are joining the restructured Pac-12 conference this year, ended the previous season with a 9-5 record in the Mountain West, losing 38-10 to Washington in the LA Bowl.

Boise State took an early lead in the first quarter, with Madsen connecting with Cam Bates on a 13-yard scoring pass over 11 plays and 75 yards. Oregon responded early in the second quarter through Jordon Davison’s 1-yard touchdown run. After Evan Stewart's muffed punt recovery allowed Boise State to regain the lead, Sire Gaines added a 37-yard touchdown reception, extending the Broncos' advantage to 17-14 at halftime.

With just 19 seconds left in the half, Dante Moore connected with Jamari Johnson on a 27-yard pass, narrowing the gap to 17-14. The half mirrored the intense rivalry between the two teams in their previous meeting in 2024, where Oregon trailed 20-14 at halftime but ultimately triumphed 37-34 with a game-winning field goal.
