Modi calls SRCC alumni ‘OGs’, takes Metro ride

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) during its centenary celebrations in Delhi, referring to its alumni as "OGs." Modi stated that SRCC, over a century old, has been a source of learning and growth for generations of students. He highlighted India's 7.8% GDP growth in the April-June quarter of 2026-27, attributing the expansion to the robustness of the Indian economy.

Modi emphasized that SRCC has been an "ocean of achievements and inspiration" for those who studied there and those who graduated. He also commended SRCC alumni for their global impact across various fields, from economics to politics, arts, law, and judiciary. Former Union minister Arun Jaitley, an SRCC alumnus, was cited as an example of an alumnus who often reminisced about his college days.

Modi interacted with students and fellow passengers during his travel to the North Delhi campus by Delhi Metro. He presented the college with a commemorative framed memento and released a commemorative ₹100 coin. The celebrations coincided with Teachers' Day, underscoring the institution's legacy of nurturing scholars, professionals, entrepreneurs, administrators, and policymakers since its establishment in 1926 by Sir Shri Ram.
