Lab test showed my wife’s fresh orange juice unfit for consumption – Osinbajo

Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo revealed that laboratory tests found his wife's freshly squeezed orange juice unsuitable for human consumption. Addressing the Open Day for Gardeners’ Seminar in Lagos, Osinbajo raised awareness about the widespread use of dangerous chemicals by farmers and fruit sellers across the country. The incident came after his wife, who had been consuming fresh orange juice daily instead of carbonated drinks, began experiencing unexplained headaches.

Osinbajo's wife examined her diet but couldn't pinpoint a cause before testing the juice. The lab results showed that the freshly squeezed juice was unfit for human consumption. The former VP attributed the problem to farmers and traders using hazardous substances like calcium carbide to expedite fruits' ripening and colour-changing process.

Osinbajo emphasized the need for stronger regulation, public vigilance, and education on safer alternatives for farmers and traders, urging consumers to question suspicious practices.
