Josh Hoover delivered a stellar performance, throwing for 231 yards and four touchdowns in Indiana's impressive 52-16 victory over North Texas. The 15-yard scoring pass Hoover threw on his first attempt marked the occasion as the Fighting Irish, the defending national champions, kicked off their title defense with a dominant display. Turbo Richard added to Indiana's impressive night with two more touchdowns, rushing for 58 yards and catching a single pass for 38.

Indiana's defense struggled, failing to capitalize on North Texas' mistakes, yet the team's passing offense and kickoff returns showcased strong performances. Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh contributed with four receptions each, tallying 64 yards and two scores. Jahiem White, making his North Texas debut, rushed 14 times for 61 yards and one score alongside catching seven passes for 36 yards.

North Texas quarterback Tayven Jackson, returning to his home state, had a solid game, completing 22 of 28 passes for 192 yards and an interception. However, Jackson also suffered a lower body injury in the second half, which briefly impacted his performance. The team's next game will be against UNLV in their home opener.
